This is one of those movies that I watched as a kid, and got to watch again recently. It attempts some of what looks today like low-level political satire, although it may just be that I'm not picking up on the references. But it's a good fun movie, and I'm still trying to avoid singing "what's good for General Bullmoose is good for the USA..."

Description: A comedy musical based on an earlier stage musical, which was in turn based on the comic strip characters created by Al Capp. When the residents of Dogpatch, USA are notified by a senator that they must evacuate their town because it is to be used as an atomic bomb testing ground, they try to persuade the government that Dogpatch is worth saving. Could the Mammy Yokum's Yokumberry Tonic that Li'l Abner has taken every day since he was a baby be enough to save the town? ... (more)
