A wonderful fantasy adventure!

"I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave."

Following the success of The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson's production company had to raise the bar for their next ambitious feature. Keeping in tradition with Henson's prior film, the state-of-the-art puppetry would be heavily employed to create a captivating fantasy world. Henson's eye for detail remai... read more

My brother and I watched this movie so many times on VHS that the audio at the beginning was all warped and off. But it leveled out as after the credits.

Sarah has wished her annoying baby brother away, and it's up to her to go into the labyrinth and solve a few puzzles, and avoid some dangers to get him back in a mere 13 hours.

Great music by David Bowie (who is per... read more

After being told how amazing this movie was year after year, I finally managed to sit through it. I like Neverending story better.

"February 4th Directed by: Jim Henson If you want to see some cool sets and puppets I recommend you look at the production stills or something from this movie. There was one pretty moderately decent musical scene with David Bowie, and one actually good one. Other than those I don't know if I enjoyed a single scene in this movie."

“Labyrinth is a childhood favourite, a great fantasy tale about a young girl who ends up bringing her favourite book to life. A young Jennifer Connelly stars as Sarah, and is excellent, as is David Bowie as the Goblin King. The puppetry and special effects are brilliant, sometimes the story falls flat but you never loss interest. This movie is a classic in still in 2013 people are watching it, because it is a great movie to watch and one for the family as well.” read more

A good movie

“It is one of those 80’s classics I wanted to watch for many years. Eventually, I find it rather difficult to judge this movie. You can actually sum up this movie with the animated owl at the beginning. On one hand, it looked terribly cheesy and was not really convincing. On the other hand, more than 25 years ago, it was the very first attempt at a photo-realistic CGI animal character and, from this point of view, it was actually really impressive. I mean, the story was decent but nothing really original and I never understood why in so many of those movies (see also ‘The Neverending Story’ or ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’), the main character starts in our world and, then somehow, travel to some fantasy realm. I understand that it is a probably a way to identify with this character ” read more

30 Movies That'll Never Be Remade (30 movies items)

"Why It’ll Never Be Remade: First of all, Bowie wouldn’t touch it, which kind of renders the whole endeavour redundant. Perhaps more importantly however, is the cult appeal of the original. In order to tap into the appeal of the first film, you’d need to win over its legions of devotees, and the way to do that is definitely not with a remake! You’d be far better served making a generic fantasy film and leaving the Labyrinth name out of it. Make it weird enough and you might just have a cu"

"Watched on: 10/2 This movie was lots of fun. Everything was just full of imagination. The puppetry was some of the best I've ever seen in movies. David Bowie was delightfully creepy. The only thing I didn't understand was the ballroom dance scene. I've tried to make sense of that scene, but I just, I don't get it. "

Interesting film facts (393 movies items)

"The full costume for Hoggle was lost for some time. It turns out that it was lost on an airplane and later bought from the airline by 'The Unclaimed Baggage Center', a store in Scottsboro, Alabama. It is now on display in their museum. During the "Escher room" scene there is a sequence when Jareth's crystal ball seems to bounce up the stairs and into Toby's hand. This was accomplished by having Toby drop the ball down the stairs, and then reversing the shot. The upside-down room in the Goblin"
