An average movie

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick but since it was starring and written by Steve Martin, I thought I might as well check it out. Honestly, I keep watching the movies with Steve Martin but they always fail to really entertain me. For example, this movie is actually one of his better efforts but still I can't say I really enjoyed it. I guess I never really cared about the story or any ... read more

One of Carolco (now C2)'s cinematic gems

Out of all of the movies that have Steve Martin play the lead character, L.A. Story is undoubtedly the best. Heck, he even wrote the movie, too!

L.A. Story is about the life of eccentric weatherman Harris K. Telemacher, who wants more in life. A mystical sign post (yes, really!) tells Harris that his life will change... for the better... and it does. After his ex leaves, Harris come... read more

Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: March (29 movies items)

"First viewing - March 6th I'm disappointed to say this was my first time seeing L.A. Story given how much I appreciate Steve Martin's comedies. To be fair, however, at the time it came out I wasn't quite old enough to get in to see it on my own & my dad never bothered with taking me to see it (if he's seen it, I'm not aware). I don't recall ever coming across it on cable back when I used it more frequently, and so it eventually fell off my radar until I spotted it at the library. I had a blast "

30 From 91: My Favorite Films From 1991 (30 movies items)

"A story in L.A. ( duh-uh.....!) about how life is constantly sending us signals about the directions of our lives, if only we pay attention. Particularly when those signals are coming from a huge traffic conditions sign that appears off the side of the freeway. New York may be the city that never sleeps, and Chicago may be the city with big shoulders, but when it comes to love, Los Angeles is the city that wants to help you."
