When hiring this film I hadn't realised that it was subtitled, but after 10 minutes or so adjusting it was easy to get into.

Set in Japan, the movie follows a Samurai's life, dealing with the introduction of western weapons, forbidden love and the struggle to kill one of his good friends when he is ordered to.

This is a movie about honour, love and friendship and the ... read more

"Circa 1860's, the Bakumatsu Civil War Era. An excellent illustration of the 1860's era in Japan and the rapid changes that were sweeping through Japan. Set in far Northwest Japan, this region was one of the last to fall to the rapid westernization of the country it depicts the lives of the Samurai at the end of their days. "

This is a movie about honour, love and friendship and the risks one man will take for all three. If you can deal with the subtitles, its definitely worth a look.” read more
