A very good movie

To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Ken Loach, I thought I should give it a try. Indeed, back in the 90's, I was a huge fan of Ken Loach. Nowadays, I don't follow him that much but when I get the chance, I still watch his movies. For example, I really liked this flick. My favourite British movies (35 movies items)

"Directed by: Ken Loach Plot: Sparks fly in Glasgow's south side when a young Asian man enters into a relationship with a Caucasian woman. Note: It is a very simple story, basically, Loach's version of Romeo and Juliet but I still enjoyed it very much. Here, Loach takes a timeless tale and put it in our modern days and fill up the whole thing with social conciousness and it just worked for me. The sober directing style still worked like a charm and, in my opinion, made the whole thing re"

Here, Loach took a timeless tale and put it in our modern days and fill up the whole thing with social consciousness and it just worked very well for me. As usual, he worked with some actors unknown to me but it helped even more to identify with the characters and I thought the two leads gave some decent and convincing performances. Like in the good old” read more

Kami's 'Watched in 2011' (84 movies items)

"24 June 2011 This film was surprisingly underwhelming, without me having any expectations beforehand. That may be because of my English class though. We covered every single topic touched upon in this film in class a thousand times. So the film felt like a whole big repetition once AGAIN. The actors didn't really capture me, though that doesn't mean they were bad. So I was left in the cinema completely unmoved. Meh."
