All the good movies are independent! And I've seen them all. This movie was a pleasant surprise. Saw it before all the hype.

If you haven’t heard about the film “Juno” yet, you shouldn’t be watching movies. Like last year’s “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Juno” was the little independent film that could. The story follows a high school girl named Juno (Ellen Page) who gets pregnant and must deal with her situation as she finds proper parents for her child. Along the way, with the endearing support of her whole family, Juno finds a young couple (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner) who want to adopt her child. However, things aren’t terribly smooth in Juno’s journey, and she must learn to grow up faster than she really should. Diablo Cody won an Oscar for her script of this film, and it was much deserved, no matter what the haters may say. While the dialogue is far from realistic and jam-packed...Read more

Juno

Even in the 21st century, subjects like teen pregnancy and abortion are hard to discuss without involving religion. It's even harder to approach such delicate matter in a humorous way. And where many films failed, Juno stands out by the unique personality of its leading character, a 16-year-old girl, with a strong personality and a sarcastic sense of humor, beautifully played by Ellen Page. Cliché in an extremely cute way, it's funny and clever and honestly entertaining to watch. And though it surprised me many times in many ways, what I liked the most about it was that the ending totally surprised me. I have serious issues when it comes to how a movie ends. It doesn't matter how much I enjoyed it, the ending is most likely to disappoint me: for being too weak or totally predic...Read more

Relato novedoso

This movie is a perfect example of why sixteen year olds should not have babies. I was reminded at many times of The Wonder Years in the way the narration worked. I was turned off by the language at first, not the swearing, but the actual dialog. I realized that this is how people actually speak on a daily basis, and it was just such a harsh reminder of that. The acting was great. Everybody made the most of their roles, no matter how large or small. The direction was very good. The movie feels like you're in the story with it, watching it unfold. I was pretty impressed in spite of being disturbed at how detached the main character remains through much of the movie. I would definitely recommend this movie. There were several laugh-out-loud moments. It showcased society ...Read more

JUNO

When I first heard of this movie, honestly I thought it would be a blow out and nothing to watch; something that wouldn’t keep my attention for the duration of the whole movie. This was because there have been movies like it, promising a unique and new tale, but with small impact. But I was surprised to watch a distinguished and comic movie. This movie has a topic that many teenage girls can relate to and the fast talking and witty comments produced by main character and movie headliner Juno, takes the stance that some girls wouldn’t in their own lives. The soundtrack to this movie fits perfectly to the theme and the feel of the movie and creates peaked emotions. Overall, the combinations of humour and feel create a great movie…

Without doubt, this is the cutest movie I ever saw :D. Nice humour, nice story, nice actors. An easy-going movie.

funny

Very quirky, sparky dialog, especially from the teens' characters and Allison Janney's character, Brenda.
Quite funny at times.
Great acting from Ellen Page; the director did a perfect job there. Unfortunately, I found J.K. Simmons to be not as good as in other films; same with Janney. Bateman & Garner make a great couple on-screen, their performances are great.

The subject is quite unoriginal, but the directing, Ellen Page's excellent acting, and the witty dialog make the film worth watching.

a little *too* hip

First of all, let me state the obvious: "Juno" is a very funny, very clever movie. But the post-modern ironic detachment that all the characters (save Paulie, Mark, and Vanessa) exhibit sucks the soul from the film. The acting is very good, the direction is competent (if very consciously indie), but the screenwriter doesn't give each character their own voice. With the exception of the three mentioned above, all the character's dialogue seem drawn from the same hipster well, with always just the right witty barb on hand to combat any creeping signs of real heart or emotion. Also, the claim that "Juno" courageously tackles politically sensitive subjects is overblown. The abortion question is dodged with a throw-away line about fingernails. Teen sex is just a plot device, neithe...Read more

My favorite of the last year

Add a great soundtrack,
funny dialog,
incredible actors
and a dark comedy about growing up(and getting knocked up on the way) together. This just has to add up to a great movie.
IMHO this woud've been a great oscar winner in the category best movie, but these kinds of movies never get the honor. At least they got it for best screenplay.

Enough ranting, just watch it, promise me ;)

Flawless Film

This is everything I want in a movie. This is a smart persons movie. The movie was written for people who have seen movies before, they didn't belabor all the plot points and lead you around by the nose. Yes, the the witty dialog might be unrealistic, but I would love it if I were that quick on the draw and creative, and those around me were, too. I loved that the people were quirky, but deep, that Juno liked her step-mom...and best of all there were no "villains". People are much more complicated than being "good" or "bad" and the St. Cloud couple were brilliant examples. The movie made me laugh, cry, clap, cheer, sigh, get angry... it had it all. I can't think of a single thing that I would want to change in this film. Flawless.

TeenSpeak

Posted : 1 year, 11 months ago at Dec 18 11:31
Once the movie progresses past the worst attempt at getting into teen culture through teen jargon and gets right into the drama of a teen pregnancy and the comedic sidebar's that can occur from a brash child that's the product of a failed marriage and is trying to find out if true love exists, then this movie was good. Luckily right at the end, they went right back into the teenspeak. 8/10
