Central to the film's brilliance is the riveting suspense, the colourful cast of characters, the humour, the terrific dialogue, the ... read more

Today Great White Sharks are on the endangered species list. We now know that even the humble toaster in your kitchen is far more dangerous to mankind than these wondrous creatures, which have changed so little since prehistoric times. But in 1975 the world was a different place and for anyone watching this movie the sea quickly became a fearful place with sharks the hidden killer of the deep. read more

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (1970's) (158 movies items)

" Notes: It is obviously the first masterpiece directed by Steven Spielberg and also a huge milestone in motion picture. We all know the story by now, Spielberg didn't have such a huge budget back then but he still managed to make one of the most thrilling flicks ever made. Movie Reviews (551-600) (50 movies items)

" A simple, yet timeless "evil shark" attacks people on the beach movie - a modern monster movie version of "Moby Dick" but with a shark instead of a white whale. The film started Spielberg's career as the major man of box office films and it was a deserved success helped by it's excellent casting of it's three male leads and John Williams delivering a epic soundtrack.
