Another great men-fighting-monsters picture, "Jason and the Argonauts" was one of the most influential and fondly remembered Harryhausen triumphs for a whole generation of filmmakers.
Fans of the 1993 cult hit "Army of Darkness" can trace its influences back to this film. When Tom Hanks presented Harryhausen with an honorary Oscar, he memorably remarked, "Some people say Casablanca or Citizen Kane. I say Jason and the Argonauts!""

The Ups: Excellent stop-motion effects. The Skeleton Army - a great OH SHIT! moment from the past. Excellent fast-paced editing and pace. Love how The Gods play around with people like chess pieces. Best adventure of the 1960s????
The Downs: The actor in the leading role is unfortunately not that good as the supporting cast. "

TV (RECORDED TO DVR) / REWATCH
Date watched: 5th February, 2013
Project: No project
Why?: Haven't seen this one for a while.
Director: Don Chaffey
Thoughts: I remember enjoying this one more in the past. The story is not that gripping anymore. Only worth watching because of Ray Harryhausen's effects.

""Go ahead, Zeus. Throw down a thunderbolt, let the earth swallow me up. I defy you!"
Rating: 6/10
What it's about:The legendary Greek hero leads a team of intrepid adventurers in a perilous quest for the legendary Golden Fleece.
My thoughts: Whoah, the stop motion from this movie is really something beyond it's time. I enjoyed this more for it's effects than its plot.
