"I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason."

With its PG rating, 2011's Hugo is the first Martin Scorsese project that could be considered a kids movie. Howeve... read more

A good movie

After making all those gangsters flicks, Scorsese decided to make for the first time a 'familly' feature. Honestly, in contrary to most of the critics and viewers, I wasn't exactly blown away by the whole thing. I mean, first of all, I don't think it is really a funny movie for kids in general. It is not really fun even rather sad and all the cinéma references are way too high-brow for young view... read more

A new Martin Scorsese has been born.

Throughout his 30+ year career as a film director, Martin Scorsese has gone on to make feature films that have become some of the most violent and sinister crime films in the history of cinema from the likes of Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Departed and Cape Fear. However, in 2011 he makes something entirely different that is beyond anything that he has ever done, and although he has t... read more

Description: Hugo is an orphan boy living in the walls of a train station in Paris in the 1930s. He fixes clocks and other gadgets as learned from his father and uncle. The only thing that he has left that connects him to his father is an automaton that doesn't work; Hugo has to find its heart-shaped key. On his adventures, he meets with a cranky ... (more)

Proof That 3D Has Legs (8 movies items)

" 3D Rating: 10/10 Roger Ebert said he wouldn't support 3D until a filmmaker like Martin Scorsese dabbled in it. And now here we are, and Scorsese has filmed a movie in 3D. And oh boy, the 3D is something to behold. It was planned and filmed in three dimensions, yielding stunning depth and space between objects. It feels like looking through a window."

"9.1.2013. For the first time/Online This is a magical, like fairy-tale movie.. This wa for me two hours of fabulous adventure.. I love every part of this movie, the story, the actors and their performances, the scenery.. Can't belive I didn't have a chance to see this at the cinema.. I recommend to everyone, no matter what kind of movies you like.. This is fantastic! Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield were perfect, their performance "forced" me to cry the last ten minutes of the movie.. The movi"

My Top 20 Favorite Films (With Comments) (20 movies items)

" Number 6 (Hugo): The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznick, is a ingenious and spellbinding book, and a personal favorite of mine. When I heard there was going to be a film adaption, I became extremely excited, though I obviously felt nervous that the movie wouldn't do the book justice. I shouldn't have worried. Hugo is one of the few movies out there that are equal to it's source material. In fact, Hugo might be even better. And considering how great the book was, that's really sayi"

Underwhelming Cinema (22 movies items)

" Scorsese tries to pay homage to the magic of cinema. For about fifteen minutes of footage in Hugo, he succeeds. The rest is not good. He should have made a traditional biopic about his subject, because the fifteen minutes we get of that movie here are awesome. The rest is an average children's fairytale where kids find out about the true magic of movies, which apparently is that if you believe in movies hard enough all sorts of magical shit will happen in your life too. Because that's what I w"
