''Words can be very powerful...''

A young girl discovers her father has an amazing talent to bring characters out of their books and must try to stop a freed villain from destroying them all, with the help of her father, her aunt, and a storybook's hero.

Brendan Fraser: Mo 'Silvertongue' Folchart

I lose count at the amount of fantasy films that seem to ... read more

INKHEART a movie created from the same titled young adult novel by cornelia funke--in the dvd extras--a favorite passage of the author that wasn't included in the movie is read aloud by 12-year- old eliza bennett who plays meggie in the film. ALTHOUGH significantly altered from the book, the adventure is still worth taking. THE MAGIC is muddled, but this fantasy tale conjures up intriguing charac... read more

Everytime they adapt a fantasy novel, the Hollywood producers always hope they will get the new Harry Potter. “This was a very enjoyable film; maybe not as exciting and a bit more contrived than I'd been looking forward to, but it was still very enjoyable in the main.

But one thing stood out above any other in this film; and that was: Paul Bettany's performance as Dustfinger.

He was just brilliant, and absolutely stole the film for me. I thought he was a good actor anyway, but the moment he came on I had to stop and think "wow!", and I continued to be impressed throughout the film, as his character development just got more and more interesting. I felt far more sympathy with his character than Brendan Frasers (even though I think he's fantastic!), and I felt that he was the true 'main character' of the film (in the same way as Sam is to Lord of the Rings).

If anyone is” read more

" Yes, I have been on a 'Family Film' kick recently. I think this helps balance out some of the darker films that I lean towards. So, yes I found this film rather enjoyable and visually impressive. With a great cast and wonderful story it is a 'family film' that I would easily recommend to others."

Bml93's Film Diary for 2012 (272 movies items)

""Since the dawn of time, storytellers have enchanted audiences with their words. But there is an even rarer gift. There are those, who by reading out loud, can bring characters to life. Out of books and into our world. Most of these Silvertongues, as they are know prefer to keep their skills a secret but some do not even know this gift is theirs, until it is too late." @ DVD A slightly less than mediocre adventure. It's a film with a funny premise that is shattered by cliches and no charm, and"

I mean, the guy is way too bland to be a lead actor, still he keeps getting starring roles and it just blows my mind. On the other hand, and this was the main reason why I wanted to watch this flick on the first place, there was a really impressive supporting cast (Paul Bettany, Helen Mirren, Andy Serkis, Jennifer Connelly, Jim Broadbent) and they all delivered some solid performances. At first, I was rather bored by the story and it took really too long to start. But then, finally, when you get to Capricorn” read more

Movies I hate (41 movies items)

"Same as the above. Inkheart inspired me, I loved the story, I read every one of the three books in less than a week. Why this movie, America, why? If there should be a movie I always thought it should be... well more somehow. There's no magic in this movie and the actors don't fit at all. I somehow always thought it should be a German movie. Yes, I think that just because the book is German that's a stupid reason, I know. "
