An Inglourious Film...

"The German will be sickened by us, the German will talk about us, and the German will fear us."

If there's one consistency in Quentin Tarantino's cinematic oeuvre, it's that he never delivers exactly what you'd expect. 2009's Inglourious Basterds is no exemption to this. The fact that the title of Tarantino's revisionist World War II fantasy is intentionally misspelled can perhaps ... read more

An overrated movie

We (at least, the decent Tarantino fans) heard about this awesome project that Quentin Tarantino was working on for many years, some kind of WWII Dirty dozen style war flick. When I heard that he was finally making it happen, I thought it was a great idea and I was pretty sure that it would be a total riot. Apparently, after 'Grindhouse' flopped, Tarantino decided to finally take on this project b... read more

My Top 20 Films of All Time (20 movies items)

"This truly is Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece. Has a large cast all of whom are great but it is with this film that America discovered what a great actor Christoph Waltz is. Waltz and Tarantino helped create one of the best villains ever. The film is wonderfully acted and shot so effortlessly. Thanks in large part to Tarantino. The scene I chose is one of the most intense scenes ever. "

“What a fun film. It moves at a quick pace and there are times when it's genuinely funny. In it's own way the film's structure is like a novel.

The strudel scene will never leave my brain.” read more

“My first encounter with Quentin Tarantino's film was not that romantic and smooth. I was curious about his films because so many people praise him and treat him (and his films) like cults. So I bought Pulp Fiction (1994) and watched it when I was around 16. I ended up not understanding the film; I enjoyed some parts of it, but at that time it just didn't make any sense to me. So when Inglourious Basterds was released and nominated for so many awards, I wasn't really eager to watch it, worrying that I would end up not understanding the film; I haven't reached the 'level' of understanding, enjoying and appreciating his films yet.

Until last night.

Right now I'm fangirling (again) over Ben Whishaw and Michael Fassbender. So I browsed Michael Fassbender films and found out” read more

“Hans Landa is the greatest villain of all times. No wonder Christoph Waltz won the GG, Academy Awards, BAFTA, Cannes and many other awards for his acting. It's perfect, just like the rest of the movie. Monsieur Tarantino, a votre film je dis BRAVO!” read more

Revenge? A bit cold

“Positives: Third Reich told like a Spaghetti Western!

Negatives: Third Reich told like a Spaghetti Western.

I mean: it's original and entertaining storytellng in pure Tarantino's style, but, applied to WW2 history, looks as fake as a propaganda comic book. Even worse, the plot is not as strong as it should have been... and as it was in other Tarantino's films. It's all about revenge, but you don't really feel the desire for revenge like you felt, say, in Kill Bill. At the end of the day, you don't care very much for the characters' fate.

Some moments, like the opening scenes, are very cool! Col. Hans Landa is a most fascinating villain. But then, the story does not keep up. Brad Pitt's Tennesse accent sounds like a cheap trick. Some dialogs are plain lame. ” read more

" One Sentence Review : Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" is more than a film, it's a solid and overwhelming affirmation that cinema as an art is still alive and that Hollywood can still produce mainstream films that bear the seal of greatness and that will transcend the test of time. Director: Quentin Tarantino Writer: Quentin Tarantino Stars: Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger and Eli Roth My Rating : 10/10 http://youtu.be/dOMKloOEKcU "

"Re-watch - Dec. 14th/15th As much as I love this film, it still falls on the lower end of QT's films I've rated a 10. In fact, watching it last night I was tempted to drop it to a 9 but I'll watch it once more before doing so. On a day where real-world violence was swirling in my mind, it turns out my taste for cinematic violence wasn't all there so perhaps I should've chosen something else to watch. My fault for wanting to watch a Tarantino film to close out my birthday I guess. Still I dig th"
