"Imitation of Life" is the ultimate *SOB* Opera. A tearjerker with sensitive racial issues pointed directly at the heart. The romance between Lana Turner and John Gavin is only secondary to the heart of the story: the pains of motherhood. Mother and child was never the same after and with such a tearful ending that the heart would almost cave in. This is Douglas Sirk's best movie, among a handful ... read more
