Despite the B-movie title, this is one of the best early talkie's.
I've only seen Paul Muni in three films date, but with each performance being so different, I would have never guessed it was the same actor."

"A very effective film - based on true events - portraying the cruel and unjust treatment in a Georgia chain gang. Surprisingly realistic and very dark, the level of dark emotion projected out the screen is intense and, at times, jarring. Great example of a 1930's American social problem film, with an exceptional performance by Paul Muni.
