"7/4 - Part of the Netflix Instant Project of 2013
A ghoulish haunted house party only Vincent Price could pull! He calls strangers to a real haunted house, then proceeds to give everyone a loaded gun because hey, why not? Survivors get cash, corpses remain dead. The only real disappointment here is the eventual revelation that the story is really just a ploy to get something done rather than have, you know, actual ghosts in there. Rewatch
After watching the previous film I needed a complete change of pace; so I decided on a classic horror marathon. Granted, it was more of a drive-in movie marathon, but still.
This one IS a classic and I love Vincent Price. I found myself slipping back to my early teenage years when my friends and I would gather on weekend nights to watch whatever horror films we could lay our hands on. Back then they were scary but we loved every minute of it.
This is one of those and it's still"
"7 STARS vs 8 STARS
Neither of these are grand cinema but both are fun to watch. The topper for me were the effects and back-story presenting in the remake w/ Jeffrey Combs as the mad doctor. They were simply...awesome."

"A millionaire - played wonderfully by Vincent Price - invites five people of varying positions and personalities to stay a night at his haunted house, for a monetary reward. Though time has inevitably toned down the scares in this horror classic, it effectively crafts an atmosphere of mystery and eerieness that permeates throughout the strange happenings that occur. Not a great film by any means, but a definitive "must-see" of the horror genre. (N)
