''You're destroying me. You're good for me.''

A French young woman has spent the night with a japanese man, at Hiroshima where she went for the shooting of a film about peace. He reminds her of the first man she loved. It was during World War II, and he was a German soldier. The main themes of this film are memory and oblivion.

This movie is all about mood. There is no real story, definitely no action scenes. It is more like a poem. We follow this 2 characters and they have some mesmerizing converstation filled with beautiful dialogs. It is a great movie and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in French movies.

"11.3. (Teatteri) Symboliikkaa ja rakkausdialogia. Monen mielestä mestariteos, itse koin tämän jälkeen vastustamatonta halua katsoa Maniac Cop 2:n tasoista eksploitaatiota."

"07.12. DVD, 1st viewing DIRECTED BY Alan Resnais Cinema is not literature, don't try to recreate it. At least it's got beautiful shots, an awesome Hiroshima fallout sequence and somewhat great performances. Some of the dialogue is a bit ridiculous and, boy, does the middle part drag. The ending, relying less on words and more on pictures, leaves a positively poetic aftertaste. "

Cinema Diary - Vol 4 E2 - Feb 2013 (38 movies items)

" This is a beautiful and poetic film. I really enjoyed the idea of a story about 'the bomb' but not as a central figure. It is a presence that wraps around the story of the two lovers. The film actually makes me love Hal Hartley's "The Unbelievable Truth" even more. As he captures much of the same feeling yet geared more towards the gen-X-ers and children of the cold war. There is a lot to love about this film and it certainly has a very important roll in cinema. However, there were times w"
