An impressive and well written piece of work: dissecting the topics of career, ambition and love in the most interesting ways is what this movie succeeds in. It may not be an exemplary piece on ethics and on how our society should work, but it shed light on the more intricate details of human relationships, in terms of professional and more intimate relationships as well as on what friendship can ... read more

Didn't read Jo Nesbø book so I can't compare how the movie succeeded in comparison with it, but with the rate 8/10 this is one of the best movies I've looked this year.. Similar to the Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson novels.. I have the impression that Hollywood version would be much more naive, thus the movie is more real, brutal and convincing.. Interesting story, holding viewer interest from beginning to end, intelligently told, all in all, very goo"

The Ups: Unique thriller with dark morbid comedy moments based upon a Jo Nesbø novel. Characters without moral compass. One unique impalement. Shows what all people should do with speed controls in Norway? Nicolaj Coster Waldau is unbelievably gorgeous compared to fish-eyed Aksel Hennie that even a man like me has to admit it.
The Downs: The epilogue that needs to explain certain plot points are just for "Dummies" as if the director don't trust his audience 100%"

En tajua arvostusta, ihan liian kesy siihen nähden, mitä pitäisi tapahtua. Arvostan ehdottomasti, että päähenkilö joutuu mm. kaivautumaan ulkohuussin jätöksiin selviytyäkseen hengissä (alkuperäisteoksessa hänen päällensä toki paskotaan samassa kohtauksessa), mutta puoli tuntia ennen loppua mennään jo aivan liian tyypillisen nyyhkyvasaroinnin puolelle. Muutenkin leffa on kaiken groteskin sisältönsä ulkopuolella niin tavattoman visiotonta ja banaalia katsottavaa, etten "

This was a pretty good movie. It was suspenseful and sometimes grotesque. I also really liked the storyline. I didn't give it a higher rating because it never crossed the line of greatness for me, but it is still a good movie that is an easy recommendation. "
"17/2 - Part of the Netflix Instant Project of 2013
I don't see it. This movie has gotten so many awesome ratings all over the place, and I just don't get it. It's pretty intense for approximately forty minutes around the middle, and then it slows down into a silly conspiracy thriller with really implausible twists. There's a fun, morbid sense of humor detectable throughout, such as shooting a woman with a dick-gun or driving around in a tractor with a dead dog in the front, but the overall ex"

I think it's safe to say that this is the best movie I've seen for the first time this month (Sunset Boulevard is tough to top). I loved every moment of it & got that magical feeling that 10/10s leave me with. Big big thanks to Ella:) for recommending I check it out!
Just a thought: I think the toilet scene in this one is even more gross than the one in Trainspotting.
Currently streaming on Netflix"
