A classic moralistic comedy!

9 years, 12 months ago at Jul 26 11:10
"Harvey and I sit in the bars... have a drink or two... play the juke box. And soon the faces of all the other people they turn toward mine and they smile. And they're saying, "We don't know your name, mister, but you're a very nice fella." Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We've entered as strangers - soon we have friends. And they come over... and they sit with us... and t... read more

100 Greatest Golden Age Hollywood Films (100 movies items)

"Adapted from Mary Chase's hit play of the same name, 'Harvey' is a sweet-natured film about the eccentric Elwood P. Dowd (James Stewart) who happens to have a 6'3 and a half" tall rabbit for a best friend. Although it has been charged with trivialising or romanticising mental illness, to accuse 'Harvey' of either is to miss the point of a charming film. Throughout the movie, Harvey's significance is debated from many angles and whether he is real or not is left somewhat open depending on our int"

Movies the giraffe watched in 2016: April (24 movies items)

"First viewing - April 12th Thanks to Drafthouse I got to finally watch Harvey and it was free. Everything works wonderfully here due to a stellar cast & a story that you're never quite sure how it'll all play out. It's definitely a great classic, though I'm on the fence as to whether it's perfect in my book. "
