Expectations have been rolling high for many years for the final novel from J.K. Rowling but when it was announced that Deathly Hallows was in fact going to be split into two parts, I actually thought it was a really good idea. Having seen Deathly Hallows part 1 twice now, I figured my review was quite overdue. After Half Blood Prince, my expectations were greatly lowered, so I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised.

*Flash!* The great Bill Nighy as Minister Rufus Scrimgeour enters the scene. His vocals set the tone of the dark times that lie within Hogwarts. Man I knew right off the bat that this wasn't going to be like the previous films.

" The Ups: It is the beginning of the end - and things really start to happen now. Satisfying high quality fantasy action with emotional drama - and fun comedic moments. Gorgeous animation sequence during an explanation scene. The Downs: Impossible to see without seeing at least the prior movie and it's resolution. I get annoyed by Ron Weasley in this film as he continues to act like a selfish buffoon and that he leaves the trio in this film is just drama for drama's sake. "
