I have a hard time seeing as to why this seems such a happy and Amelie-like feelgood case to many. Sure, the main character by Sally Hawkins seems like a happy person, but I really think a lot of it feels fake and something like a surface beneath bigger feelings. I mean, perhaps she is happy, but I don't think that's all there is to it, since she overdoes it to some degree. That is all for good, since it makes the film itself more thoughtful and complex. "This was my second watch of Happy-Go-Lucky and it felt as warm-hearted and easy as the first time.
It's definitely one of my favourite feel-good movies, the protagonist Poppy is so spiritful and inspirational.
I simply love the film, because it can cheer me up and beside of that, it's not simply a stupid comedy.

I stopped watching this half-way through, returned to it after two weeks and it felt like a completely different film. I don't know if it took a darker turn during the second half or if I was in the wrong mood two weeks ago but I really preferred the second half.
