It must be one of the most peculiar documentary I have ever seen. The story it is based on is rather interesting but the movie is even more fascinating. Herzog succeeds in giving such a muti-faceted portrait of this man, Treadwell, it is quite an achievment. This guy lived the life he wanted to live, in nature and hanging with bears, but all that stuff about helping the animals and thinking he is doing something really meaningful seems to be just a load of crap. "I watched this the whole time thinking 'this guy is insane'. Werner Herzog narrates the personal diaries of Timothy Treadwell (a man who comes across as troubled and delusional) whom sought some sort of personal refuge in wild bears. Treadwell films himself on his mission to 'protect' these huge bears.. which, unless I'm mistaken, was mostly filmed in an area which was already protected land for these creatures??
