The sleaze-filled saga of an exploitation double feature.
Robert Rodriguez's and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse is a crazily funny, campy, exciting tribute to the grimy glory days of 1970s exploitation cinema. The concept is simply a stroke of pure genius - merge two intentionally shitty 1970s-style horror B-movies into one double feature, and then add a reel of hysterical fake trai... read more
Grindhouse is extraordinary. Yes, you heard me... extraordinary. It happens to be one of the best and well put together films of the past few years. I've heard nothing but rave reviews for it and I can now understand why. If you're thinking about going to see this and feel kind of iffy because it looks too corny, I'm telling you now that you're missing something spectacular. You have to take this ... read more
I haven't had this much fun in a theater in years before seeing this film. Two movies at three hours long absolutely flew by. If you like Tarantino's and Rodriguez's previous films then you won't be disappointed; similar style and content to their previous masterpieces.

In "Planet Terror," a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos." "Stuntman Mike: Do I frighten you?
Stuntman Mike: Is it my scar?
Arlene: It's your car.
Stuntman Mike: Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. It's my mom's car.
Stuntman Mike: How do you think they accomplish that?
Pam: CGI?
Stuntman Mike: Well, nowadays unfortunately you're right more often than not. But back in the all or nothing days, the Vanishing Point days, the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry days, the White Line Fever days, they had real cars crashing into real cars and real dumb people driving em.

"Grindhouse is both impressive and disappointing. From a technical and craft point of view it is first-rate; from its standing in the canon of the two directors, it is minor.
- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
RR and QT do an excellent job of simulating the content of grindhouse offerings, but they don't simulate the experience or the giddy kick.

"22nd January, on Blu-ray
I've seen the separated versions of both Planet Terror and Death Proof before and finally I saw them how they were meant to be. My opinions of the individual films have not changed, Planet Terror is still the far more entertaining and idiotic film of the two on offer. On the other hand, the point of Grindhouse is not to compare the two films. It is the portrayal of a part of film culture of the 1970's and 80's and in that context this experiment is a winner.
Sure, Plan"

"22.1. (Blu-ray)
Grindhouse on siis vihdoin katsottu koko komeudessaan, trailereineen kaikkineen.
Planet Terror on yhä yltiöviihdyttävä ja omanarvontuntonsa tietävä roskapläjäys, vaikkei enää neljännellä katselulla yhtä hyvin kiinnostanut. Splatteria riittää, mutta El Wrayn hahmo ja Bruce Willisin Osama-höpönlöpö saivat jo kiukun kihisemään.
Pankin ja huikeat naurut räjäyttävät kuitenkin zombien jälkeen nähtävät huijaustrailerit, joista en pysty keksimään mitäÃ"

What was it about?
Two full length feature horror movies written by Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a two film feature. Including fake movie trailers in between both movies.
My two cents:
I wasn't sure what to expect from this flick but it really seemed to be some kind of vanity project for Tarantino and Rodriguez. Seri"

"Re-watch - Dec. 8th/9th
Still 3 hours of pure fun. Those unfortunate souls who waited for DVD & watched the split releases missed out on a great experience here. While I enjoy the extended cut of Death Proof (though I'm in the minority), in Grindhouse it's edited to a slick hour & 1/2 which honestly works better especially when paired with Planet Terror. Ah, but the best thing about Grindhouse is the overall presentation with faux trailers & intermission cards. Having the full thing on DVD mak"
