David Lean: Greatest to Good (13 movies items)

" Another Dickens adaptation. A very young Jean Simmons plays the young Estella, and I was as smitten as young Pip. The second half of the film suffers from a rather awkward change of cast to adult counterparts for Pip and Estella, which kind of took the air out of it for me. Even so the film is still very good. Bernard Miles gives a particularly endearing performance as Pip's Brother-in-law/ guardian."
