one of the best

It became the benchmark for popular epic cinema for decades. The film is monumental enough to be beyond criticism.

It tidies up a lot of complex history… Dressed up with 1939 Technicolor, pastel-pretty for the dresses and blazing red for the passions, and a thunderous Max Steiner score, this still has a fair claim to be considered one of the best pictures of Hollywood filmmaking.<... read more

The most incredible movie ever!!! Vivien Leigh is one of my top favorite actresses, as well as Clark Gable was one my favorite actors. There is no way to really describe how fantastic this movie is. It has to be watched to be appreciated!!!

A classic

Since it is a huge classic and since it is still the highest grossing movie (adjusted for inflation), I was really eager to check this flick. Eventually, I thought it was indeed pretty good and I could see why it was so loved and was such a success. However, I can say I was really blown away by the whole thing. Indeed, even though such old gems like 'Nosferatu', 'Citizen Kane' or anything made by ... read more

“On the eve of the American Civil War in 1861, Scarlett O'Hara lives at Tara, her family's cotton plantation in Georgia, with her parents and two sisters. Scarlett is discovers that her secret love Ashley Wilkes is to be married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton, and the engagement is to be announced the next day at Ashley's home, the nearby plantation Twelve Oaks. At the Twelve Oaks party, Scarlett is admired by Rhett Butler, who upsets the male guests when he states that the South has no chance of winning the war against the far superior North. Scarlett confesses her love for Ashley, who rebuffs her. Rhett then reveals to a fuming Scarlett that he overheard the conversation but promises to keep her secret.

In retaliation, Scarlett accepts a marriage proposal from Melanie's brother” read more

Eventually, I thought it was indeed pretty good and I could see why it was so loved and was such a success. However, I can say I was really blown away by the whole thing. Indeed, even though such old gems like 'Nosferatu', 'Citizen Kane' or anything made by the great Chaplin still retain their power even 70 years later, some other movies didn't grow old very well and this flick is a good example, at least, that's my opinion. Indeed, the directing was solid, the costums and sets were gorgeous and Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh produced one of the most memorable couples ever put on the screen. Still, during the whole thing, I couldn't shake the idea that” read more

30 Movies That'll Never Be Remade (30 movies items)

"Why It’ll Never Be Remade: They wouldn’t dare, would they? Rightly held up as a classic of modern filmmaking, surely even the most cynical of Hollywood bigwigs would balk at the outcry provoked by an attempted remake. Even if that wouldn’t bother them, Victor Fleming’s sweeping, stately romance would probably struggle to put bums on seats when up against the bells, whistles and 3D-explosions on offer at the average multiplex! If They Have To Do It: George Clooney steps into Clark Gable"

"I love every bit of the movie, but I decided on this scene because it shows Scarlett and Rhett's entire relationship, that though Rhett may have her, he never did truly invade her mind. "
