This is a pretty good treatment of the thinking that went on behind the scenes of movies like "Prom Night", "Friday the 13th", "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and others. The great thing is that the cool stories and insights are told by the key players involved (directors, producers, special effects artists). You get to hear not only their thoughts on the psychology involved,... read more

Melko perinteinen dokkari slasher-elokuvista. Monet genren suurimmat nimet käyvät vähän kertomassa juttuja ja sitten katsellaan elokuvien parhaita pätkiä. Kyllähän tästä saa ihan mukavasti ideoita omaan elokuvaan sekä läjän mielenkiintoisia slashereitä katsottavaksi. Erityisesti pitää huomauttaa elokuvan tekijätiimiä siitä, että Black Christmas on muuten sitten ensimmäinen slasher, vaikka tosin Bavan Bay of Bloodissa olikin jo viitteitä uuden genren synt"

Maybe I'm not a big enough slasher fan, maybe it's because I watched it on Youtube and all those annoying comments always get to me, I dunno. I just wasn't hooked with this doc.
It's also been a pet peeve of mine when documentaries ruin the ends or plot twists of movies, but what are you gonna do besides fast forward through ones you haven't seen...
Was cool to see the critic and "civilian" reactions to slashers. I had no idea there was such hatred for the genre. "

New Line Cineman Jeff Katz selittää yli-innostuneena slasherien hienoudesta aivan liikaa, ja mies ärsytti hyvin paljon."

Netflix Instant
Surprisingly thorough and informative documentary about those horror movies we all love so much. Definitely worth a watch, and near-essential for die-hard horror nuts. "

A very insightful doc on slasher films. I watched a lot more in my teenage years and it reminded me I need to get back to that. I enjoyed a lot of the interviews and any horror fan will love it. Beware though as it enjoyed showing spoilers from Slasher Films a bit more than I would have liked, for the films I hadn't actually seen no less."

"I freaking love this documentary! As a horror fan, I find it to be really much fun and really interesting. It has a lot of my idols, like John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Sean Cunningham, Tom Savini, and so on.
I highly recommend it to any fans of horror and slashers!

An excellent look at slasher films. If I had one complaint, it'd be that they tell a bit too much of what happens in the films they discuss (like how they end). But perhaps they figured the ones they talked about would've been seen already."

"Home - New
An intriguing, urbane and fun look at the rise and metamorphosis of the slasher film. Features some great interviews with legends such as Carpenter and Savini and is chock full of great anecdotes and fantastic clips. "
"As I said elsewhere: Excellent documentary detailing the history of the slasher film. I find it interesting that even though Wes Craven didn't pioneer the style, he singlehandedly revived it twice so far. I like that they interviewed directors and special effects artists for this, as both are equally important in the success of any horror film.
If I had any complaints, it'd be that the doc should have spoiler alerts in case you haven't already seen any of the films they discuss...in most cases"

Essentially, this is a documentary which interweaves present-day interviews with film clips from classic 80's horror flicks to give you a behind the scenes look at a genre during its peak period of interest. If you're a horror fan, you'll probably like watching this.
