This is a great musical starring, among others, Leslie Caron and Maurice Chevalier. If you are a fan of musicals, don't miss out on this one, which won nine Academy awards (impressive).

The songs are fun, the acting is good...and the story is well written---while not quite believable, the story is more like a fairy tale.

Vincente Minnelli directed better musicals. Leslie Caron made her debut in a better musical. MGM had an entire department dedicated to churning out all-singing, all-dancing film entertainments. Gigi doesn't even register in the same radar screen as Singin' in the Rain, Meet Me in St. Louis or An American in Paris. " There may not be any large choreographed numbers, but for some reason this musical, with its catchy songs and lovable characters, is the musical I have re-watched the most. It never fails to make me smile.
