Something good to see during an air plane trip, when you just wanna relax and avoid hard thinking. The thing about power and happiness in a relationship is quite good, indeed.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but since there was a pretty good cast, I thought I should check it out anyway. And, indeed, it was just another average and rather boring romantic comedy starring Matthew McConaughey. I don't know if you have noticed but McConaughey has made a come-back recently starring in a bunch of interesting flicks ('The Lincoln Lawyer', 'Bernie', 'Killer Joe... read more

First things first. Making Emma Stone look as ugly and goofy as she did in this film is completely unforgivable. If you want an ugly and goofy girl in your film, then cast someone who is exactly that. Don't ruin Emma Stone's charm and hotness. I've also found out that I really don't like Jennifer Garner. She looks like Julia Roberts evil sister or something (and I don't like her either.)
As for the film itself, I'll have to admit that there were some cute moments in it. So I'll have "

Yes, it's formulaic as can be but it's still enjoyable. McConaughey is perfectly caddish here and completely full of himself until he's shone the light ala Ebenezer Scrooge-style. Michael Douglas plays the uncle that MM worshipped and patterned his lifestlye after, as well as a ghost himself and does a magnificent job.
The one question I am left with at movie's end? Whatever happened to Jennifer Garner playing smart, strong & sexy badass characters like she did in Alias? I miss that."

I don't know if you have noticed but McConaughey has made a come-back recently starring in a bunch of interesting flicks ('The Lincoln Lawyer', 'Bernie', 'Killer Joe', 'Magic Mike' and the upcoming 'Mud' and'The Wolf of Wall Street') but, before that, he was mostly known for his fluffy romantic comedies starting with 'The Wedding Planner' back in 2001. Personally, I think the guy has some talent but those flicks are so lazy, so unoriginal, so uninteresting, it is a real bore to watch, even if I do have a weak spot for the genre. Like I said before, the suppor” read more
