Ghost Rider (2007)

This review was originally started as a comment on Elfflame's recent review but I decided to post it as a review in it's own right as I got carried away! ;-) Elfflame gave the film a 1/10 & while I can understand the low rating in my book a 1 ranks as a painful viewing experience, something reserved for the worst films ever. Whilst Ghost Rider will never win any film-making accolades I reckon that 1/10 is very harsh, for me a 5/10, ranking it as just an OK film. It's good storyline, which to be honest you'd expect for a film adaptation of a comic book story & I think you have to give some credit for Cage's under-stated almost hang-dog depiction of the main character. We all have those camp films that we like to watch. Movies that somehow redeem themselves simply because we enjoy them, but usually there is a favorite actor, or theme, or character, or something, that redeems them in some way. This film doesn't. Granted, I'm not a fan of the comics (though if I was, I think I'd be even more pissed off by this movie), and while I like Nick Cage, he's not one of my all-time favorites either. Still, I know that there's a good story in the comics, and I know Cage can act. So how did they end up with this crap? The film doesn't even feel like an homage. It feels like a bad computer game. Even thou is a very good movie you kind of forget it for some reason... u want to tell people about it but u only remember few parts. It has a great setting, effects, and kind of a confusing set up.

Unbelievable. This tops the worst movie I have seen lately category in a landslide and I don't expect it to fall from the there anytime soon. What a way to ruin a truly remarkable comic series.

What a fantastic movie! I loved it!
Definetly would recommend this, its freeeeaky but awesome all the same!You've gotta love the special effects expecially when he's got the flames.

If you havn't seen it, go now, i mean now, right now! quick you can't miss it!!!

I had been told not to bother watching this movie, but since I had it on hand, I decided to give it a try....and found myself wishing I hadn't. It is not a good film, not well acted, not well written, and the special effects, for the most part, suck.

Upon discovering his father has terminal cancer, motorcyclist Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) signs a pact with Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda), giving his soul for his father's health. First off, you really can't go too wrong with a movie based on a superhero, and this one is no exception. Not only did I enjoy the movie, but the story behind ghost rider was something I never really knew. I will have to read up on it an find out how close the movie was, hopefully it was dead on. The visual effects were pretty cool, and Nicolas Cage play a really get character. All in all, the movie was really nice. If you like superhero/comic based movies, see it for yourself.

Heh, this movie was great. Not particularly an amazing film, but a cool movie to watch when you're in the mood for action. Ghost Rider's one-liners are awesome, and you can look at it in two ways:

1. Bad scripting. (The one-liners are serious.)
2. Good scripting. (Ghost Rider's attitude is due to Johnny Blaze's entertainer background.)

There are a lot of great effects, and some really cool scenes. Very enjoyable.

The film seems to say it wants to be about standing against evil and rooting for second chances—with Johnny seeking any opportunity to make up for the bad choices of his past. But cursory (and perverse) nods to God only serve to remind us of how ridiculous and ugly the ghost rider's world is. Second chances come to those who fight for them, and when push comes to shove, only the devil's power is strong enough to defeat evil.

This is a movie to watch if you just want to escape and have fun for an afternoon. The movie doesn't get into a deeply involved storyline and moves at a pretty quick pace. I took my kids and they loved the movie. It does have scary images in a couple of scenes and may not be good for younger children.

The action scenes were well done and the CGI is pretty decent to watch. Cage does well by the main character. Eva played off of him really well also. The sound track kicked some serious butt and really added to the feel and pace of the movie.

If you're looking for a fun action film, this one should be worth the price of admission.
