Ghost

“What the hell is this movie and how did it get nominated for the following Oscars: Picture, Director and Screenplay? It’s not just that Ghost has a severe identity crisis as a film, which it does, but it just isn’t very good. It’s pure Hallmark-style wish fulfillment with a hollow emotional core. I always think that it’s a good idea to ignore films that try to offer something for everyone, and Ghost tries to have it every which way that it can. There’s the central romance, the heaven-can-wait fantasy, the corporate intrigue and darker murder mystery elements. They never successfully come together, instead causing the film to zip wildly and unevenly between moments of almost farcical comedy and mawkish melodrama.

Maybe if the romantic chemistry between Demi Moore and Pa” read more

My favorite romance movies (13 movies items)

" I think this story is already a classic. Demi Moore from the days when I still liked her and absolute hunk of that time, it had to go. Oh yes, Patrick Swayze... it was his time. And of course the song that rocked the world! "

" Director: Jerry Zucker Starring: Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and Tony Goldwyn A young New York bank executive is killed on the street at the moment in his life when everything seems to be going his way. After his death, his spirit stays around attending his own funeral, watching his grief-stricken girlfriend in the apartment they had just moved into and then devoting himself to protecting her from the people who killed him, aided by a reluctant psychic."

Filmsite Greatest Tearjerkers Scenes/Movie Moments (318 movies items)

"The scene in an alleyway of Sam Wheat's (Patrick Swayze) unexpected murder while Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) cradled his bloody body in her arms. Another equally moving scene was the pottery wheel scene - to the tune of the Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody - in which spirit-ghost/lover Sam tried to reveal himself to the grieving Molly at her pottery wheel. In another scene, spiritualist medium Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) convinced the bereaved Molly that Sam was trying to contact her by "

Still A Better Love Story Than Twilight (20 movies items)

"Molly and Sam Sam might be dead as in real dead, but that don't stop him stalking his true love Molly. Everytime I watch this movie I get the shivers, then I have to turn the light on to go to bed. It is a warm hearted love story about two people in love, one seeking revenge and the other wishing her dead boyfriend would leave her the hell alone because she can't sleep at night. This is a truely epic love story, that transends time and space and white tunnles. "

Movie Reviews (251-300) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: Will probably be seen as Whoopi Goldberg and Demi Moore's best movie but it is Patrick Swayze that is the heart of the film even if he isn't really interacting nor doing that much. The Downs: The real villain of this piece is an obvious prick that deserve to die a violent and terrible death Hollywood-style. The screenwriter actually got an Oscar for the laughable dialogue? The ending is terrible. "
