I always think that at least half the feeling of impending doom and horror in Lucio Fulci’s movies are less to do with his use of atmosphere and gore and more to do with the god awful acting and dialogue. I mean I know the guy’s films are worshiped by hardcore horror fans worldwide but seriously there is only so much clichéd lines and awful delivery I can take. Well the only real Lovecraft link is that the town in which most of the creepy goings on are taking place are is Dunwich, other than that the links are fairly tenuous. A lot of horror fans really rat

“I always think that at least half the feeling of impending doom and horror in Lucio Fulci’s movies are less to do with his use of atmosphere and gore and more to do with the god awful acting and dialogue. I mean I know the guy’s films are worshiped by hardcore horror fans worldwide but seriously there is only so much clichéd lines and awful delivery I can take. It’s also incredibly strange how a movie like this can portray someone getting an industrial drill driven through their head yet when it comes to expletives they can only say things like; ‘Good gracious!’ and ‘Good Lord!’ delivered with extra doses of hamminess. This movie is full of bad lines like that and the level of unintentional comedy is through the roof. Still it does have its good moments and I have to admit ” read more
