One of the best movies ever made

To be honest, I'm usually not really a fan of psychopath/serial killer movies. I mean, they are most of the time entertaining but they are never really great, at least, that’s my opinion but this movie is the exception. Indeed, I thought was so thoughtful , complex and really spellbinding to watch. I saw it again not so long ago and once again, it completely blew my mind. One thing I found real... read more

Michael Haneke once stated that the intention behind 'Funny Games' was that, if you couldn't watch it all the way through, then you didn't need to.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think I like the idea that a film director knows better than I do what I need to watch, or what I don't need to watch. I did watch 'Funny Games' all the way through, and it's a movie about two guys who to... read more

Let me be honest here, i'm not familiar with the director, but if this is what he usually do? then i will never watch another movie of him.

The story goes like this: two guys enters a family vacations home, kill their dog, kick the father on the leg, so he can't walk and start asking some stupid question just to irritate the viewer, the two guys look very normal and polite, they use... read more

A Complete review of Michael Haneke's work (11 movies items)

" Cast : Arno Frisch, Ulrich Mühe What was it about? Two psychotic young men take a mother, father, and son hostage in their vacation cabin and force them to play sadistic "games" with one another for their own amusement. My two cents: This movie had a huge impact on me and it is still, after all these years, one of my all-time favorites. I'm usually not really a fan of psychopath/serial killer movies. I mean, they are most of the time entertaining but they are never really great, at least,"

"Funny Games" is my least favorite of Michael Haneke. you should try his other films.

First of all, it is all a matter of taste and this movie is not for everyone. However, I don't think you should judge the viewers that did like this movie. Indeed, personally, I really loved this movi

Day Twenty-Eight // 31 Day Horror Challenge

Pretty good, the remake was also very good as well. None of them differ really but this one was better, I mean why would it not be. It was very fast paced, and everyone acted great.

The story goes like this: two guys enters a family vacations home, kill their dog, kick the father on the leg, so he can't walk and start asking some stupid question just to irritate the viewer, the two guys look very normal and polite, they use proper language and ask nicely which makes it really irritating to watch as you set just angry and annoyed the entire time.

Film Review of Funny Games (1997)

“It's that time of the year yet again - the sun is shining, bright blue skies are up above, and a rich, upper-class Austrian family decide to go away on holiday. They're bourgeois. Husband Georg, wife Anna, son Georgie and their pet dog Rolfi soon make their arrival at their idyllic holiday house. Two ostensibly harmless and kind young men, Peter and Paul, are introduced to the family by their closest neighbour, Fred. It's only after the pair begin harassing the family, wasting their time, repeatedly requesting eggs, and causing general annoyance, that they forcefully invade their holiday house, and proceed to hold them captive, whilst engaging them in cold, cruel sadistic games based on the struggle between life and death.

The original Austrian version of Funny Games was made in ” read more

I did watch 'Funny Games' all the way through, and it's a movie about two guys who torture a family to death. No more, no less. Michael Haneke may want to believe that it's some sort of endurance test or moral lesson for the viewer, but it's not. It's just a movie, and an arthouse movie at that. It changes nothing. If he'd wanted to change the way people think about violence, he should have been Paul Verhoeven, who had the commercial suss to make mainstream movies and the artistic daem” read more

“I must be insane to call this film great. But then again, I must be insane not to call this film great. Funny Games, directed by Michael Haneke, is a prime example of a great psychological, or the appropriate term would be mindf***, horror of high intense. Anyway, Funny Games plays like an episode of Big Brother gone wrong. And, in order to prevent losing their precious viewers, the director kept rolling, showing the world the sadistic nature of Peter and Paul (who affectionately call each other Tom & Jerry and Beavis & Butthead). But you see, it's precisely the all-too-real feel to it that makes tis film unique and different from its peers. That, and the performances by the main five cast members. Basically, the film is not for the faint-hearted or weak-minded people. But it's not for hor” read more

"13.08. DVD, 1st viewing DIRECTED BY Michael Haneke An intense, disturbing and inventive satire/thriller. The experience is closer to that of playing a violent video game rather than a violent film as Funny Games flirts with the audience, basically asking questions why they DON'T stop watching the torment of a family. It doesn't come across as preaching to me, though, I'd say "playful" is the word I'd rather use - even though the subject matter and atmosphere per se is quite far away from "pla"
