Worthy tribute to its forefather

"Welcome to Fright Night. For real."

In 1985's Fright Night, Peter Vincent pointed out that '80s movie-goers aren't interested in seeing vampires (or vampire killers) anymore; "All they want to see is slashers running around in ski masks, hacking up young virgins." In 2011, these words ring ever truer. The Twilight series has expunged any interest and menace that vampires once had, ... read more

Pretty Good

This movie was better than I expected it too be. Being a fan of the original, I went into this one not knowing what too expect. And what I got was a pretty solid movie. I reminded me of a Buffy / Angel episode, and when I saw Marti Noxon wrote the screen play I knew why. I really enjoued the movie and will be adding it too my DVD collection when it comes out.

Okay, remakes can either be good or bad, and this one was pretty damn good. I loved that Chris Sarandon got a small part in it, as he was "Jerry" in the original (which I love). It also made a lot of sense to me that I really enjoyed this when I saw that Marti Noxon (Buffy/Angel) wrote the screenplay, which makes me really happy. The effects were pretty awesome, the movie has the right mix of s... read more

"8/10 I've not seen the original, so I can't really compare them or anything like that, but based on what I've seen in this remake, I would say that one should dismiss a remake immediately. This was an extremely fun and well-crafted film. A true blast. It's smart, stylish, funny and it does occasionally manage to handle suspense quite well. Lead by a number of good performances, particularly from Colin Farrell (who I usually don't like) and David Tennant, this is the kind of vampire film they sh"

“Fright Night is not a bad remake, some movies can be modernized and that is what they did here which turned out to a good idea. The movie is about Charley who finds out that, his neighbour Jerry is a vampire. The movie basicly sticks to the orginal, I like the acting more in the remake but I am a fan of Colin Farrell who plays Jerry. For a vampire horror film, it is not that bad and one you can watch.” read more

I Thought You'd Be Bigger: Part 1 (50 movies items)

"Easily one of the most unfairly overlooked movies of 2011, I actually really enjoyed this one. It's not so much a horror movie as a supernatural thriiler, but it also had some funny bits, and Colin Farrell was a genuinely creepy villian. Had the luxury of going up against "The Help" when it was just starting to heat up. Prediction: $70-90mil. Actual: $18,302,607."

" My thoughts on it: I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I'd heard it was good but I thought it was actually pretty great. Vampires are the in thing right now and I'm totally into it. And this movie was a good addition to the genre. It was well casted, with Colin making a sexy yet very dangerous and creepy vampire. Anton made a good hero, and Imogen seems to be right at home in the worlds of the undead -- I liked her in 28 Weeks Later, too. David Tennant stole the show, though. He was fant"
