I just re-watched this one, and man did I forget a lot. But afterwards, it was a pretty classic bond flick. Plot twists, exciting chase scenes, and edge-of-your-seat action. The only thing missing was some really cool gadgets, there wasn't very many at all. But, all in all, this was another 007 action-packed thriller. Watch it, no matter if you have seen it or not.
It was a decent James Bond flick with the usual trick and treats. There is absolutely nothing original in the plot but the action scenes are rather spectacular and it was entertainig enough.

After a ship sunk off the coast of Albania, the world's superpowers begin a feverish search for its valuable lost cargo: the powerful ATAC system, which will give its bearer unlimited control over Polaris nuclear submarines. As Bond joins the search, he suspects the suave Kristatos of seizing the device. The competition between nations grows more deadly by the moment, but Bond finds an ally in the beautiful Melina Havelock, who blames Kristatos for the death of her parents. The non-stop action includes automobile chases, thrilling underwater battles, and even a breathtaking tour over razor-sharp coral reefs. But all of this is merely a prelude to 007's cliffhanging assault of a magnificent mountaintop fortress.... (more)(less)
"Moore is merely the best-oiled cog in this perpetual motion machine.

Let's face it: When you've seen one impregnable mountaintop fortress, you've seen 'em all.

Rewatch (***½ - ***), like with all those previous Bond's, obviously. I'm watching these as they come from television, just for the fun of it. Speaking of fun, this isn't as much that as the few earlier ones and there's some sense of laziness with everything that is happening. Some moments, like the skiing-action, has something in them, but overall it feels the movie takes itself way too seriously. I still don't have the heart to drop the rating much, besides everything. "

The Ups: Roger Moore does his best 007 appearance - acting wise. Carole Bouquet is the best Bond girl during Moore's period. She is perfect with that crossbow. The disgusting assassin Locque is memorable and the whole chase through the Olympic arenas is a fun action setpiece. Love the showdown between 007 and Walter Gotell's Soviet General Gogol.
The Downs: Why the need to introduce and kill off Blofeld again and in a gimmicky way - and now he seems to come direct from "On Her Majesty's Secre"

Olimme melkoisessa naftassa ja keskustelimme edesmenneistä parisuhteistamme kämppikseni kanssa. Ei siitä sen enempiä.
Koff, vuosikerta 2013."
