A very good movie

Since I'm a huge fan of Christopher Nolan's work, I was definitely eager to check his directing debut. Nolan has become one of the most successful and popular mainstream directors but the reactions towards his movies are quite extreme nowadays. Indeed, on one hand, you have his die-hard fans (I'm a fan but not so devoted) who push all his movies on the top of such lists like the Imdb top 250 or '... read more

Poor man's Memento

Year 2000 saw the suspense thriller MEMENTO starring Guy Pearce, wherein the uniqueness of the script resides in the fact that the plot unfolds from the end and proceeds backwards. FOLLOWING has somewhat of that same flavor, though not so engagingly or cleverly done.
In this film, Jeremy Theobald plays Bill, a young Londoner addicted to following people - not with any malicious intent, but ... read more

Independent Movie is Independent.

Since i'm crazy about Christopher Nolan, watching this movie was only a matter of time for me, and indie movies interests me the most, so this is a double pleasure for me.

Shot with a budget of 6000$ in a duration of a year, with non actors, and it was written, directed, and co-produced by Nolan, this is as creative as it can be, it's like a lower budget memento, which made it a bla... read more

Description: An older man listens to Bill's story about being a callow writer who likes to follow strangers around around London, observing them. One day, a glib and self-confident man whom Bill has been following confronts him. He's Cobb, a burglar who takes Bill under his wing and shows him how to break and enter. They burgle a woman's flat; Bill gets intrigued with her (photographs are everywhere in her flat). He follows her and chats her up at a bar owned by her ex-boyfriend, a nasty piece of work who killed someone in her living room with a hammer. Soon Bill is volunteering to do her a favor, which involves a break-in. What does the old ... (more)

" Vista: 17/05/2017. Vista por primera vez. Opinión: Aburrida, se nota que Nolan era un novato que no tenia idea de lo que hacia, esto se nota principalmente en la asquerosa dirección del filme, aun tomando en cuenta los bajos valores productivos del filme, eso no quita que el director no aprovecha en ningún momento los medios cinematográficos para contar la historia, los planos son casi todos los mismos planos cercanos al personaje para enfocar su cara sin nada de especial (ya que la pelícu"

Moviewatcher122's 2016 Film Diary: August (25 movies items)

"August 8 "You take it away... to show them what they had." I don't think I'll surprise anyone by saying that this is the weakest film that I've seen from Christopher Nolan. It's still pretty good though as it does have an engaging story and characters. It also has some great black and white cinematography and a beautiful soundtrack, but it feels a bit too simplistic compared to his other films and doesn't quite reach that level of greatness that the rest of his work has. Still, this was Nola"
