What a terrible movie this was. It was boring, had terrible fight scenes and it was starring one of the worst actors i have ever seen. I have not seen a movie with Channing Tatum in the lead before so i diddnt really notice him that much, but when he is the lead he just sucks all the life out of a movie. And when you first are gonna get a terrible actor in a movie like this, get one that can fight... read more
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching it and I have to admit it was not bad at all. At least, it was much better than 'The Son of No one', another flick directed by Dito Montiel and also starring Channing Tatum, which was really disappointing. Basically, it is a really standard fight movie which faithfully follows the formula and even though it w... read more
The incredibly lame and uninspired title, combined with what appears to be a completely generic plot, seems like a definitive warning against paying money to see this movie. So, you might wonder why I did, and the reason is very simple: the last time that Dito Montiel wrote and directed a movie (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints), not only did he manage to give emotional potency and verisimilitud... read more

“Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching it and I have to admit it was not bad at all. At least, it was much better than 'The Son of No one', another flick directed by Dito Montiel and also starring Channing Tatum, which was really disappointing. Basically, it is a really standard fight movie which faithfully follows the formula and even though it was nothing really amazing, they managed to add enough interesting elements to make it quite appealing. For example, I really liked how the illegal underground fights really looked messy. Furthermore, I thought the two main characters, the fighter (played by Channing Tatum) and his manager (Terrence Howard) were actually very well written and quite compelling to behold. Tatum actually delivered a s” read more

“Fighting is a film that tries desperately to be relevant in any way, but it is only a weak action film punctuated by some good ideas in the script. The film tells the story of Shawn MacArthur, a young man lost in life after a fight in a square is contacted by an agent that helps him making money in illegal fights. With an outcome of the head just wrong (as The Man Who Copied, for example), Fighting is a film that shows that the end had interesting characters and was supposed to be a good movie, and it's unfortunate they have chosen the easiest and most commercial way doing this luxury, which only pays to be seen even by the great Channing Tatum.” read more

So, you might wonder why I did, and the reason is very simple: the last time that Dito Montiel wrote and directed a movie (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints), not only did he manage to give emotional potency and verisimilitude to what looked like another run-of-the-mill, throw-away drama, but he also managed to get a very good performance out of actor Channing Tatum (whose work in movies like She's the Man and Step Up left a lot to be desired). As it happens, with Fighting, he's working with the same genre and with the same actor, so I knew I definitely had to give the movie a chance. I was still skeptical, though, be” read more

And that brings me to the part i hated the most about this film. It was just a big fucking rip-off of the 1991 Van Damme movie Lionheart. They are both about a white guy who lives on the streets of New York and need money, and one day he ends up in a street fight and get's noticed by a black man who wants to make money off this guy and talks him in to doing these underground street fi” read more
