Top Notch on all accounts

Joel and Ethan Coen are arguably the best in the movie making business within the last ten odd years, only just behind Scorsese. And while other directors are truly brilliant, The Coen's usually have them beat in terms of unique direction, odd characters and completely capricious storylines. Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher and Paul Thomas Anderson will come into the minds of most... read more

It is above all thanks to this flick that the Coen brothers became pretty huge. I mean, before that they had a solid cult following (my older sister, for example, introduce me to their work even before this movie was released) but it is only after this feature came out that their popularity grew up exponentially. Indeed, it became basically their first classic movie and many think it should have w... read more

Jerry Lundegaard's inept crime falls apart due to his and his henchmen's bungling and the persistent police work of the quite pregnant Marge Gunderson.

Joel & Ethan Coen Films - Ranked (17 movies items)

" The dark humor of Fargo is so on point that it's actually quite unbelievable. That the Coen's manages to take situations and crimes that are truly tense and horrific, and imbue them with enough comedy to make them feel naturally funny is a tremendous achievement. Carried by strong performances by typical "character actors", gorgeous cinematography and a plot that is consistently unpredictable, Fargo is nothing short of a brilliant film."

"2014/03/02 first viewing @home w/ Kendra streamed from Amazon Prime Instant video on Roku 2 Not sure exactly what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed this one. I think I wrote it off, since I knew that the big "thing" about the movie was the accent, while it really didn't have an impact on the movie so much. Glad I finally saw it."

Movie Reviews (201-250) (50 movies items)

" It all starts with Carter Burwell's music that build up and drags me directly into the film. Then I fall for the quirky characters, the acting, the intricate plot, surprising twists and it's believable but darkly funny ending. I do feel sorry for Jerry Lundegaard in the end who only tried to earn himself some money. "
