Baseado no romance autobiográfico homônimo de Jonathan Safran Foer (que faz uma ponta), o filme narra a busca de Jonathan (Elijah) pela mulher que salvou a vida de seu avô, na Ucrânia, durante a segunda guerra. O visual é um espanto de lindo, a trilha de canções ucranianas, fantástica e os momentos, especialmente nos últimos 30 minutos de filme, conseguem ser daqueles que ficam gravados na retina.

Wow, I really fell in love with this movie. I was trying to think of adjectives to describe this film and too many popped up: strange, trippy, wonderful, bizzare, funny, heart warming, sad. What an emotional roller coaster ride. This is one of those small independent films that come along that you must see. You may not like it but you have to give them credit for putting together a very entertaining story. The story follows Wood's character as he goes back to Russia to find the woman that saved his grandfather from the Nazis. He meets up with some very interesting characters along the way. There is a dog in the movie that is very deranged that ends up befriending Wood. The dog is worth watching the movie by herself.
