An average movie

During his career going over 5 decades, Woody Allen has always managed to get some of the best actors around and I think it is with this movie that he might have managed to get the most impressive cast (Woody Allen himself, Julia Roberts, Edward Norton, Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Goldie Hawn, Billy Crudup, Tim Roth, Natasha Lyonne, Alan Alda, Gaby Hoffmann, Lukas Haas,  Robert Knepper). Joe, a friend of theirs, who has a daughter, DJ, with Steffi. After yet another relationship, Joe is alone again. He flees to Venice, and meets Von, and makes her believe that he is the man of her dreams. However, their happiness is fake all the way, and she returns to her previous husband. Steffi spends her time with charity work, and manages to break up Skylars and Holdens relation when she introduces Skylar to a released jailbird, Charles Ferry.

“During his career going over 5 decades, Woody Allen has always managed to get some of the best actors around and I think it is with this movie that he might have managed to get the most impressive cast (Woody Allen himself, Julia Roberts, Edward Norton, Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Goldie Hawn, Billy Crudup, Tim Roth, Natasha Lyonne, Alan Alda, Gaby Hoffmann, Lukas Haas,  Robert Knepper). However, a great cast doesn’t mean that you will get automatically a great movie, I’m afraid. Indeed, even though it was definitely not among his worst work, it was still pretty damned average. Indeed, following ‘Mighty Aphrodite’ which had a Greek chorus, Allen thought it was time to make his very own musical and even though it must has sounded really neat to him, it didn’t work very well ” read more
