The film is based on the 1989 book "Freeing the Whales" by Tom Rose, which covers Operation Breakthrough, the 1988 international effort to rescue gray whales trapped in ice near Point Barrow, Alaska. "

If it had been invented story, without hesitation
I would give six or seven stars, because so much publicity
about saving three whales would seem so unreal.
But this movie is based on true story,
so the whole story, I must admit it was quite amazing and,
generally speaking, the movie was interesting.
I add this movie to My favorite stories based on facts list."
