John carptenter's Escape from L.A. has a parallel story to that of his earlier film "Escape from new york". Kurt Russell is back as the Badass he was in New york just this time theres new co-stars and a diferent city. This time steve Buscemi is Ernest Borgnine's shoes this time around instead of being the cab driver he's Hollywood ED the guy who knows the street. The same could be said about Peter... read more

Snake Plissken is one of the most badass characters ever created and it is not a surprise that, after all these years, the finally decided to make a sequel to his first adventure. It is probably the most charismatic character in Kurt Russel's career and, once again, he delivered a solid performance. The main issue is that, unfortunately, the plot is way too similar to the first installment. I mean... read more

Arriving fifteen years after the low-budget cult classic Escape from New York, 1996's Escape from L.A. is the very definition of fun, trashy entertainment. See, whereas the original 1981 movie was a bleak, gritty post-apocalyptic tale, this ... read more

Films Roger Ebert liked that everyone else dislike (38 movies items)

" “Escape From L.A.” has such manic energy, such a weird, cockeyed vision, that it may work on some moviegoers as satire and on others as the real thing. That could lead to some interesting audience reactions. Ebert's rating: 3.5/4"

Muija kuoli. The future kind of sucks. (313 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: Apparently, Los Angeles, is separated from America due to a mega, super earthquake, degenerates and criminals have taken over the city, and theme parks are now under water. Keep in mind, the year 2013 was not imagined to be the year, social networking was big, a super earth quake had not happened yet, and Disneyland was still one of the happiest places on Earth. Year it takes place: 2013"

Movies the giraffe watched in 2014: May (29 movies items)

"First viewing - May 30th I'd put this one off for a long time because I'd always heard mostly negative things about it. Since the year it came out the only connection I've really had with it is I bought the soundtrack & still listen to the songs from it from time to time. But now that I've watched more of Carpenter's films I figured I should give it a chance in hopes people were just judging it too harshly or something. Turns out, not so much. Now this is the definition of a mixed bag. For eve"

" The Ups: Kurt Russell IS STILL Snake!!! Cliff Robertson play a good Christian-crazy President. The cool updated title music. The Downs: Almost an identical story to the original but with new terrible adjustments where the action scenes seems censored so it is to appeal to a kiddie audience. The worst surfing and CGI-sequence put on film untill "Die Another Day" kicked it off it's throne. Weak use of celebrity cameos. One of the most unbelievably bad showdowns put on film where our hero and "

"Kurt Russell returns as Snake Plissken in the sequel to Escape From New York. The plot is basically rehashed from the original which wouldn't be too bad if the movie didn't have some truly terrible CGI effects. Russell is great as Plissken and he slips back into character as if they'd never had been a gap of 15 years between the original and its sequel. Steve Buscemi, Bruce Campbell and Peter Fonda give good performances as well. Don't expect too much here, it's just a b-movie with shoddy effect"

“"I shut down the third world, you win they lose. I shut down America, they win, you lose. The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Arriving fifteen years after the low-budget cult classic Escape from New York, 1996's Escape from L.A. is the very definition of fun, trashy entertainment. See, whereas the original 1981 movie was a bleak, gritty post-apocalyptic tale, this follow-up is a campy, deliriously over-the-top actioner, and the result is better than most critics are willing to admit. Unfortunately, the movie entered cinemas to little fanfare, and earned only $25 million at the box office, a disastrous amount considering its $50 million budget. Even though Escape from L.A. is far from perfect, it's enjoyable enough, and action fans should find it worth at least a” read more

"August 18 "What's it going to be, Plissken? Them or us?" "I shut down the third world, you win they lose. I shut down America, they win, you lose. The more things change, the more they stay the same." I actually thought this was an underrated sequel. I'd even say that I enjoyed it a bit more than the original. Kurt Russell was still good as Snake Plissken and all the other cast members were good too. I really wasn't expecting much from this sequel, but I enjoyed this sequel more than most pe"
