Not the best movie I've ever watched, but it's so funny... and scary, tough being predictable.

It's the kinda movie where you turn your mind off and watch and enjoy, and feel the same emotions of the characters, the same desperation. It's actually great after all. Diserves a ten :)

A thriller that I liked but ripped off Rear Window

"I'm having a kid. Your little boy's growing up, I got a girl pregnant, now I gotta go visit her. She lives in Reno, I don't know how I'm gonna get there. Probably have to take Mom's car. But, we're gonna live together. We're gonna live in the trailer park. Her name's Shirley, she's real great." Directed by: D.J. Caruso Starring:Shia LeBeouf, Sarah Roemer, Carrie Anne-Moss, David Morse, Aaron Yoo Genre: Crime/Mystery/Thrilller Running time: 105 minutes My review: A teen living under house arrest becomes convinced his neighbor is a serial killer. I had low expectations with Disturbia because it had a Hitchcock-ish sort of style to the plot. It feels like a present take-on with Hitchcock. I have had mixed reviews from magazines, friends from Flixster and on other...Read more

NIMBY

I didn’t expect too much from this film. Figuring it to be pretty much another teen thriller, but from the outset I was pretty impressed.
The dialogue for the first 1/3 of the film is simple allowing the audience to watch LaBeouf settle into his new found confinements. I enjoyed the simplicity of this. Watching LaBeouf explore his limits and settling into his voyeuristic routines. From then on the plot became more predictable but held my attention and kept me wondering ‘guilty or not?’
I think the film would have been stronger left unresolved but all in all an enjoyable contemporary twist on the old classic.

it's just an okay

Okay, If I had not watched Hitchcock's movies, I would have really liked the plot. This is the modern day version of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954) . Instead of having stuck at home with a cast on his leg, LaBeouf who plays Kale was under house arrest after punching his teacher. Why is it that even though LaBeouf acted in many notable movies that his performance is so predictable? For a while I almost forgot that I wasn't watching Transformers. This is like a teen-flick-with-some-thrill. I enjoyed watching Yoo. Ya ya.. I like looking at Asian cuties. LOL

This was a good movie. Not brilliant. Not mind blowing. Not particularly special but good. For a thriller it took a long time for the "thrill" to occur and when it finally did occur it was unfortunately short lived. However I thought David Morse as the "bad guy" was a good choice, Shia LaBeouf (I think perhaps his parents didn't like him when he was born) on the other hand.. Well I thought perhaps he wasn't a particularly great actor and maybe everyone loves him because he has done good movies (ie Tranformers) but now I think he is mediocre but could improve with some acting lessons. The acting wasn't exactly bad though but I feel this was just another polished movie geared towards a certain money spending audience and not for actual thriller lovers. A shame really when you are in the mo...Read more

a modern classic

Remeber the 1989 thriller with Tom Hanks "the burbs" Disturbia follows the same line of brillant story telling. with a great supporting cast. After being put under house arrest for 3 months it seemed as though things couldn't get any worse for Kale Brecht (Shia LaBoeuf,"Transformers", "Even Stevgens") until he gets bored with no tv to watch and no xbox 360 kale starts watching the nieghbors and their daily routines. when a call girl is heard screaming running out of his nieghbor's house (daivd morse) does kale start to get obsessed. Disturbia is a character-driven thrill fest. As Qouted by Richard Roeper (Ebert &Ropeper) "Welcome to Disturbia"

Disturbed + Suburbia

I'm not a big fan of LeBeouf, I feel he brings nothing but the same character to every role. But he did alright here.

He plays a kid who is under house arrest and is so bored that he starts spying on his neighbours. More goes on than a regular neighbourhood though!!!

David Morse proved he can be quite sinister which is exactly what the neighbour needed.

I mainly watched this film because I heard of its similarities to Rear Window, which I respect highly.

Good effort.
