'You've gotta ask your self a question. Do I feel Lucky? Well, do ya ... punk'
I only just saw this for the first time a while ago, i knew i had to watch it, it being such a classic.
Its full of action and suspence. Which is my type of movie.
Its a really freaky story actually, that the badie (i forgot his name) would do such things. you know what i say ... those poor... read more
I was literally blown away by how good this film turned out to be. I knew I was going to love this film because I really love seeing Clint Eastwood playing that total kick-ass character and a film with such a great story to it. I found the story of Dirty Harry very similar to films like Heat and The Dark Knight. Not because of the main character because main character in all three are totally diff... read more
I Like 1971's Dirty Harry Because The Only Two Clint Eastwood Films That Are My Favorite Are 1971's Dirty Harry And 1967's The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

The movie makes evocative use of its San Francisco locations as cop Harry Callahan (Eastwood) tracks the elusive "Scorpio killer" who has been terrorizing the city by the Bay. As the psychopath's trail grows hotter, Harry becomes increasingly impatient and intolerant of the frustrating obstacles (departmental red tape, individuals' civil rights) that he feels are keeping him from doing his job. A characteristically taut and tense piece of filmmaking from Siegel (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Shootist, Escape from Alcatraz), it also remains a fascinating slice of American pop culture. It was a big hit (followed by four sequels) that obviously reflected--or exploited--the almost obsessive or paranoid fears and frustrations many Americans felt about crime in the streets. At a time when "law and order" was a familiar slogan for political candidates, Harry Callahan may have represented neither, but from his point of view his job was simple: stop criminals. To him that end justified any means he deemed necessary. --Jim Emerson... (more)(less)

+ Dirty Harry is a bad ass!
+ Scorpio is a great villain
+ One-liners and the script
- Really dark and I watched it in HD
- A bit cheesy
- Over the top"
"Harry Callahan:
I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

"Clint Eastwood begins his tour de force as the San Francisco cop with a 70's machismo-sized chip on his shoulder. "Dirty" Harry Callahan is an on-the-street inspector who consistently talks thru incessantly gritted teeth, enjoys pissing off his starch-collared superiors & welds big hefty handguns like they were just a natural extension of what makes him so dirty to begin with.
In other words,
he's mad as hell and he's not gonna take it anymore, punk!"
"Clint Eastwood, in the title role, is a superhero whose antics become almost satire. Strip away the philosophical garbage and all that's left is a well-made but shallow running-and-jumping meller.

"He stars as Police Inspector Harry Callahan in this, the first of the Dirty Harry series. Referred to as dirty as he takes the worst jobs and isn't afraid to empty his gun when confronted with bad guys.
