George Lazenby has stepped down from the role of James Bond, and Sean Connery has returned for one last shot at the job. His mission is to find out who has been smuggling diamonds, which are not re-appearing. He adopts another identity in the form of Peter Franks. He joins up with Tiffany Case (St. John), and acts as if he is smuggling the diamonds, but everyone is hungry for these diamonds. He also has to avoid Mr. Wint (Glover) and Mr. Kidd (Smith), the dangerous couple who does not leave anyone in their way. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Gray) isn't out of the question. He may have changed his looks, but is he linked with the heist? And if he is, can Bond finally defeat his ultimate enemy.... (more)(less)

Rewatch
And so I finally finish my stroll through the Sean Connery era of Bond that I began last month. Although I left off Never Say Never Again. I'm a Bond purist and all that movie was was a poor retread of Thunderball anyway, made by a malcontent, thorn-in-the-side of the Bond producers.
Diamonds is a decent Bond film with many delightful aspects. Charles Gray takes a turn as Blofeld and Putter Smith as Mr. Kidd and Bruce Glover as Mr. Went are a very strange pair of assassins. Bad "
"This futuristic home from the famous James Bond Film Diamonds are Forever is up for sale you can buy it for a cool $14 million dollers, and pretend your James Bond forever.

"
The Ups: Fun bickering between Putter Smith and Bruce Glover as two assassins. Lana Wood is gorgeous here. Connery is always watchable as Bond. Good pace, but underwhelming climax that feels like a combination of "Dr. No" and "You Only Live Twice".
The Downs: Too much of a parody of itself. Stupid comedic visuals that hint on what were to come during Roger Moore's period. Charles Gray is too aristocratic for Blofeld. Jill St. John is miscast."

"23.3. (DVD)
Aika riitaisaa ristiä kantava Connery-vapahtaja. Tunnusbiisi on jälleen tuttu.

This is better than something like You Only Live Twice or Thunderball, because of a more Moore-like silly goings, like with the two gay villains, the most idiotic ways to kill the main character, escape with the moon-vehicle and stuff like that. But still, I don't think there's not enough of it and there is some real empty-going besides. That and over-length are pretty common faults with this films, but in this I noticed how there is some real lacking story-wise as well, at almost all"

I love Bond. I do, I really do. Yet my favorite thing about this particular Bond film was the inclusion of Jill St. John and not simply because of her looks. "
