Bless Me, For I Have Killed Quite A Few Men.

Over the top awesome flick! Antonio Banderas plays El Mariachi; a man looking for not only work to fit his talent to entertainer, but a man who calls himself Bucho. This man took what he held dear right in front of him; a former girlfriend and put a decent size hole in his hand as well. Now, the legend of the Mariachi has come true and to a filthy mexican bar near you! After several shootouts left him weakened and his only friend dead, he is left with no choice but to give his band members a call.. and yes, they brought their guitars! Watching it for the first time in over a year last night, the movie sucked me in to the point where i contimplated getting up even to go to the bathroom until the movie was over. Many gruesome head and neck shots in this movie along with Danny Trejo! Short...Read more

"It's strange how pulling a trigger is easier than playing the guitar. Easier to destroy, than to create." After the unanticipated success of Robert Rodriguez's little known movie El Mariachi it was pure fate that a sequel would be instigated. In this case, Desperado is a reworking of the original film while also acting as a continuation of the story. El Mariachi was made on an astonishingly small budget of $7,000. Logically enough, Columbia channelled a lot more money into the sequel hoping for similar success and a bigger bang. Desperado is set various years following the events of the first film. El Mariachi (now played by Banderas) is an acrimonious former guitarist presently determined to exact retribution on the men held accountable for the death of his girlfriend. He is conti...Read more

I managed to watch this film three times in two days this weekend. I can't believe just how fantastic it is, I had to bump it up a notch from my original 8/10 rating. I'm not sure what is stopping me giving it a straight 10 actually.

This film has everything. Stylish violence, fantastic gunfights, a legendary cast and potent eye candy to boot. This is one of Robert Rodriguez's earliest films and as a result it isn't as cocky or overblown as his later efforts. Pretty much made household names out of Banderas, Salma Hayek and Danny Trejo with this film. Non-stop re-watchable fun from beginning to end!

Even Tarantino gets his head blown off, what's not to love!
