"We killed a man, Drew. Shot him in the back. A mountain man. A cracker."

Based on James Dickey's best-selling 1970 novel, John Boorman's Deliverance is a fateful tour of rugged Georgia terrain which functions as a potent reminder that we can always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shot on a shoestring budget on location in northern Georgia, Boorman's most arresting picture ... read more

This is the sort of film you watch and it ends up making you feel sick because it doesn't really go anywhere and it starts to bore you. The premise is ok and I think it would work well in the book, but there isn't much there to keep you interested in the film. It's an interesting insight into the actors who star in the film. Everyone's favourite John Voight gives a fantastic performance and it's c... read more

Me already NOT being a fan of the woods..this movie didn't help hahaha. I enjoyed the realistic-ness to the film. No music, actors did most of their stunts, shaky camera, non complex, yet realistic dialogue. It was well done in my opinion. Although I really didn't like the
rape scene, of curse, who would, but it was disturbing and I had to fast foward
, it was still a killer fil... read more

On a weekend canoeing trip down a river in the Georgia back country, four urban businessmen enter a nightmare in which both nature and mankind conspire to send them through a crucible of danger and degradation in which their lives and perhaps even their souls are put at horrendous risk.

15 From 72: My Favorite Films Of 1972 (15 movies items)

"And speaking about movies with a disaster lurking in the water, in Deliverance, the boat might not be as a big as in the Poseidon Adventure, and the white capped waters of the rapids might not be as vast as the Atlantic Ocean, but, when you look at the end result of what transpires for the characters in this film, the results are almost as cataclysmic. Just on a more individual, more "intimate" level. If what you're lookin' fer in a movie is that it features things like white water rafti"

Films and the critics who hate them (741 movies items)

"A fantasy about violence, not a realistic consideration of it. - Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times It's the stuff of which slapdash oaters and crime programmers are made but the obvious ambitions of Deliverance are supposed to be on a higher plane. - Variety, Variety Staff So many of Dickey's lumpy narrative ideas remain in his screenplay that John Boorman's screen version becomes a lot less interesting than it has any right to be. - Vincent Canby, New York Times"

"1.4, Netflix Miesporukan jokiretki muuttuu parin seksuaalisesti ahdistelevan hillbillyn ansiosta melkoiseksi selviytymiskamppailuksi. Tapahtumat käynnistävä kohtaus metsän junttien kanssa on melko häiritsevää ja mieleenpainuvaa seurattavaa, ja kohtaus muuttaa letkeästi käynnistyneen elokuvan tyylin vakavampaan suuntaan. Hienosti on myös jätetty "

"What makes this movie scary is if you have ever been on a road trip and come across some crazy looking people, then you think of this movie and high tall it out of there because no one wants this happening to them. "
