To quote the dvd's back cover, "Robin Williams delivers an extraordinary performance in one of the most compelling motion pictures of all time." Let's not forget the amazing performances of Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard.
An unforgettable movie that changes not only the lives of the students in the film, but also the viewers'.

A really overrated movie

This is yet another big classic from the 80's... Personally, I do like Robin Williams. I think he can be quite funny and it is a good thing that he tries from time to time another genre but, unfortunately, he is usually really irritating in these melodramatic movies... But, in my opinion, he is not even the worst thing in this movie... I just hate its message. The best example was when they pick ... read more

DPS is as warm a film as an electric blanket, as rich as history and as likable as any wise old man with inspiring words. First off, I'm a sucker for inspiring movies and since I have recently taken an interest in poetry, connected with John Keating because we kinda share almost the same views on life. Review of Dead Poets Society

“It is difficult for me to simply describe my feelings towards Dead Poets Society. It's a film that lives on in your heart and your mind. It's an experience you'd be hard-pressed to forget. But at the same time, it's heavily flawed, and downright unlikable at times. Even frustrating. The third and final act of this film is worthy of applause, but the first and second leave a less satisfying impression.

In a tedious and brutal series of classes at the Welton Academy (a prep school for boys), a group of senior students have their outlook on life completely changed by their English teacher, John Keating. Though his methods are considered "unorthodox" by his peers, he quickly becomes a hero to the students of his class, as he teaches them to "seize the day!"

First off, I'm a sucker for inspiring movies and since I have recently taken an interest in poetry, connected with John Keating because we kinda share almost the same views on life. Now, DPS is either a really great flick with scenes that you just wanna rewind over and over or an unnecessarily over-rated one. Finally, for once, a decent, mature, flawed yes, movie comes from Hollywood that not only breaks certain stereotypes, like, for example, boys mulling over poetry more than girls, but also makes you come out of your shell and associate yourself with at-least one character. I mean, whether we're verbal about it or not, aren't we all really like them, if just a little” read more

Roger Ebert didn't like all the Classics (40 movies items)

" His Review : "Dead Poets Society" is a collection of pious platitudes masquerading as a courageous stand in favor of something: doing your own thing, I think. It's about an inspirational, unconventional English teacher and his students at "the best prep school in America" and how he challenges them to question conventional views by such techniques as standing on their desks. It is, of course, inevitable that the brilliant teacher will eventually be fired from the school, and when his studen"
