To quote the dvd's back cover, "Robin Williams delivers an extraordinary performance in one of the most compelling motion pictures of all time." Let's not forget the amazing performances of Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard.
An unforgettable movie that changes not only the lives of the students in the film, but also the viewers'.

This is yet another big classic from the 80's... Personally, I do like Robin Williams. I think he can be quite funny and it is a good thing that he tries from time to time another genre but, unfortunately, he is usually really irritating in these melodramatic movies... But, in my opinion, he is not even the worst thing in this movie... I just hate its message. The best example was when they pick ... read more

DPS is as warm a film as an electric blanket, as rich as history and as likable as any wise old man with inspiring words. First off, I'm a sucker for inspiring movies and since I have recently taken an interest in poetry, connected with John Keating because we kinda share almost the same views on life. Films and the critics who hate them (741 movies items)

"The moral divisions set up between characters are childishly overdrawn; and, worst of all, the behavior shown by the boys and adults frequently reeks of falsity and contrivance. - Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader The movie undercuts Mr. Williams's exceptionally fine performance, making the character seem more of a dubious fool than is probably intended. - Vincent Canby, New York Times Not the worst of the countless recent movies about good kids and hidebound, authoritatian older people.
