"Day of the Woman"...The Ultimate Day of Terror!

There are many arguments for and against this '70s cinema shocker. Most claim that it's just misogynistic trash (and rightly so, though I'm not condemning it - many '70s exploitation films are just that); and still others claim it's some sort of feminist manifesto that pushes feminist ideals to the extreme (leading up to some very literal demasculation). However, I really don't care about any of t... read more

This film is one of a kind. I doubt anything of its kind will be made in my lifetime. Not with political correctness running rampant these days.

The film tells the story of Jennifer, a writer who goes country to try to write her first novel. She attracts the attention of some locals. They rape her in possibly the most brutal rape sequence in film. She survives, and seeks vengeance t... read more

A haunting low budget slasher film that revels in its rawness, from having no score to brutal violence and sex.

Movies the giraffe watched in 2017: April (28 movies items)

"First viewing - April 24th I know this film more by reputation than anything else, and as such it's been one I've been curious to see. After watching it I can honestly say I should have ignored my curiosity. The first third of the film is pretty brutal to get through, though that's clearly part of the point. Once we're past that the film turns into a revenge movie, which makes sense but wasn't especially satisfying beyond the surface. It doesn't help that none of the characters have any depth t"

Scarier Than Fiction (50 movies items)

"Writer/director Meir Zarchi took inspiration from one of his own experiences in Central Part in 1974. There, he came across a woman who had been raped and beaten, but when he took her to the police, she was allegedly treated unfairly. Zarchi stated that the character of Jennifer Hills came out of that incident: she's somebody who deals with her attackers without relying on the law."

Movie Reviews (1251-1300) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: It defined a whole new exploitation movie genre of "rape and revenge" where brutalized women got to take revenge on the men. Camille Keaton gives a honest and memorable performance as revenging angel and her rape scene is a heart-breaking one as she goes full into the scene and even going full frontal. Some effective death scenes - especially the castration scene is memorably bloody and gruesome to behold for a man. The Downs: All the men are pathetically played and the use of a ment"
