This is the Date Movie of all Reviews!
Appauling. Hollywood has sunk low in the past but letting this film reach cinemas! I have no sympathy if anything bad happens to the creators or producers of this film. Was it meant to be funny? The cast were practically begging me to laugh at their performances but I couldn't even do that. Brain Damage is the only reason this film exists. This is the Donnie Darko of the Spoof Genre! 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Doesn't Quite Hit the Mark
Imagine this, two guys, sitting around their parent's basement. They've stopped playing video games for a few minutes as they can't quite agree on whether or not it would be ethical to use cheats. While drinking soda from cans that mommy brought down on a tray, they begin discussing movies... and somehow it turns to parodies.... and how wouldn't it be funnier if the role of Stitch had been played by a midget, or what Alyson Hannigan (except they refer to her as "Willow") would look like if she were fat. Ingeniously, these boys begin to chat endlessly about mocking movie scenes and laughing hysterically until soda shoots out of their noses. The fun never stops, 'cause there are just so many movies to make fun of. And then one brilliantly gets the idea of making the spoofs into a movie... and so begins "Date Movie"... Because honestly, while watching this, I really couldn't get a sense of continuity, it was like some really bad MadTV skits just all lined up without commercials. Not to mention the gross factor was astounding. I cringed on too many occasions. The sad thing is, on a certain level, I actually am into toilet humour... but apparently it just doesn't quite extend to watching a stuffed cat taking a painful sounding dump in the family toilet for ten minutes. All that aside, the movie is exactly what you expect it to be with ridiculous parodies, bad impersonations and over the top comedy. I wouldn't have paid to see it, but I did sit through to the end and some bits might have made it worth it.... There just weren't enough of them as a whole. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
