Following a car chase in the mountains, a boy with amnesia escapes from his pursuers. He is taken in by a childless couple who discover that he has superhuman abilities and is some kind of android. When they try to return him to a research lab, government agents threaten to destroy him and the couple must protect him.
"I am not including D.A.R.Y.L. in this list, even though he escapes a pentagon program and flies a blackbird, blah, blah, blah... because he is a robot. But his friend "Turtle" is pretty spunky and on the ball (more than the adults in this movie, actually). Considering it's an 80s kids film made on a low budget, the character wasn't as annoyingly cheesy as you'd think.

"I loved this movie as a kid, and the idea of a child with a computer chip in his brain was neat for the 10 and under crowd, but the special affects and acting are horribly dated. With modern day special effects and a slightly bigger budget, this movie could really be an awesome kids movie if remade, instead of just a funny retro movie that kids from the 80s and early 90s remember fondly."

"D.A.R.Y.L. is a kid with amnesia with really, really unusual abilities (off the charts IQ, can watch 6 different TVs at once, can drive, etc)... but all he wants is acceptance. His buddy, Turtle, is a sarcastic, precocious loud mouth who, I think, feels a little misunderstood too.
