A great movie

I remember, when this movie was released, there was not much buzz about it but I still ended up watching it with my two of my buddies in the theater. To be honest, we were completely stoned when we went to watch it and the only thing I could remember was that my friends were constantly fidgeting and fighting on their chairs and I think something pretty weird was going on the screen but I sure didn... read more

It took me a second viewing to really appreciate this film. The concept and visually unsettling look into a future world set in a dated period is exceptionally engaging. Definitely worth a look.

Dark City is a great link between noir and science fiction that stakes its’s all on a beautifully gloomy atmosphere, made of an enchanting cinematography and impressive scenes. Plus, it disorients who's watching and digs on humanity feelings. And who care if the point of the story is clear a little too early, but Rufus Sewell performance - I think he's actually an underrated actor, weird Hollywo... read more

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- May 2017 (33 movies items)

" Director's CutDVD- 1hr. 51min. First Viewing There's a great story in Dark City, and it's immaculately made, but it didn't quite thrill me. My main issue, the editing is just too much, was just too much for me to get past; I'm sure that I've seen movies with more cuts, but few were as distracting and pace-disrupting as the one in this film. Granted, there is a strong story here, with a great cast and a unique look. Maybe this'll be one that takes a couple of views for me to fully appreciate (or"

Movie Reviews (351-400) (50 movies items)

" Superior science fiction film noir, excellent actors and a riveting story just like one of my favorite films from the 1980s, "Blade Runner". I love it's atmosphere, characters and it's ending. It also has bizarre unique villains. It also has some of the same ideas as "The Matrix" but a whole year before it had premiere. A decade later I got to see the director's cut too, which is superior to the theatrical one as it skips the annoying voice-over from Kiefer Sutherland and makes the film even be"

"2016/03/10 @home on Blueray from MEL via library (from MSU) Specifically, I watched the director's cut. I've never seen this one and heard that the "big secret" is revealed in the opening of the theatrical version, so I was careful to get this one. This movie was very odd, but the special effects were crazy impressive, especially for a movie from 1998. It must have had a decent combination of CGI with practical effects. Anyhow, story was weird and I'm not sure what we are supposed to think "
