What can I say about this film? When I saw the trailer, I had gone and picked the most "tame" trailer which showed almost next to nothing. Not only was I disappointed but it killed off my mood, which was very high. Then, just yesterday I was reading a magazine and The Curse of Frankenstein was featured, alongside a few other Hammer masterpieces. Going against my better judgment, I decided to downl... read more

My Month of Movies: Nov/2015 (29 movies items)

"11/9 Rewatch Synopsis: Brilliant scientist Victor Frankenstein, seeks to unravel the mystery of life and death. His relentless quest reaches it's culmination in the creation of a man, pieced together from the parts of many, which Victor brings to life; yet his creation does not behave as he thought it would. A classic in every sense of the word and nearly the rival of Universal's own Frankenstein. Peter Cushing was born to play Victor Frankenstein and brings something special to the role that "

Moviewatcher122's 2015 Horrorfest (55 movies items)

"October 9 "Let's let our friend here rest in peace... while he can." This was a decent remake, but at the same time I can't help calling it weak in comparison to the original. It does have some good acting as Peter Cushing is as great as usual when it comes to monster movies and Christopher Lee was good as the monster although he's nowhere near as great as Boris Karloff was. I also liked the way they told the story in this version and I did like the technical aspects of this movie, but in th"

“What can I say about this film? When I saw the trailer, I had gone and picked the most "tame" trailer which showed almost next to nothing. Not only was I disappointed but it killed off my mood, which was very high. Then, just yesterday I was reading a magazine and The Curse of Frankenstein was featured, alongside a few other Hammer masterpieces. Going against my better judgment, I decided to download it and watch it once and for all. It took all of 12 hours and it got me thinking, "Is it a sign? That I shouldn't watch it? Or is it to test my patience? Will the end result be good?" The answer is, of course, the latter. The opening score fired up my interest and by the time we meet a disheveled Peter Cushing, I was all-ears and all-eyes. Nothing, absolutely nothing distracted me for the next” read more

My movie year 2012 (703 movies items)

"PC En ole sitten nuorimpien vuosieni saanut turhia irti Frankensteinin Victorin seikkailuista, mutta tämä Hammer-klassikko on paitsi aidosti kiinnostava, myös varmaankin paras tähän mennessä näkemäni kuvallinen versiointi aiheesta. Peter Cushing on törkeän hyvä paronina ja Christopher - ah - Lee mätäisässä ja silmäpuolisessa hirviölookissaan ensimmäinen vastenmielisyyttä aiheuttava versio muuten sympaattisesta otuksesta. Goottitunnelmaa ei Vasara-tapaan lavastuksesta tai mu"

My Top 15 Halloween Favorites: Frankenstein (15 movies items)

"Back in the 1930's & early 40's, it was the power trio of Frankie, Wolfie & Drackie that made the Universal Monsters so universal. But by the late mid 50's, it seemed that this "Triumvirate of Terror" had lost all bankability at the box office. That is, until Hammer Film Productions decided to take a crack at it. And with their distinctive brand of visceral storytelling & Gothic cinema, they sparked up a lightning strike that forever forged their name into the history of horror & showed that"

Top ten Hammer horror films (10 movies items)

" I put this one just a little bit higher than Dracula because the character of the Baron, as played by Cushing, is simply one of the greatest horror icons of all time. Praise should also be given to Christopher Lee for essentially playing two characters. At first, the monster is savage and evil, but after surgery, Lee plays him as a pathetic wretch. That stumble that he does when Frankenstein commands him to sit down is some amazing pantomime. You really get a feeling that at that point, he's no"
